The results are in! The Novice Category winners are....

And now for the winners of the Novice category!

In addition to the first, second and third place winners, we also have the prizes for Most Tech Line, Biggest Move, Best Video from Someone Riding for Under a Year and Most Creative 'Pure' Trials Line, as well as some smaller spot prizes for those videos, lines, moves, shots or edits that our judges feel deserve some recognition outside the standard prize categories.

1st Place
First place goes to Aaron Browne for his video, filmed in the Peak District of Derbyshire. Aaron obviously put a lot of thought and effort into the riding, filming and editing of this video and the whole thing flows beautifully!

Aaron walks away with a fantastic selection of prizes provided by our generous sponsors Inspired Bicycles, Heatsink Bikes, Atomlab, DMR Bikes and Lezyne:
  • Inspired frame, Inspired Mug, Inspired t-shirt
  • Heatsink (8mm Yellow/8mm Blue/or 10mm Reds) CNC Magura pads (winner's choice), chainstay protector, stickers
  • Atomlab ltd. edition chrome Pimp bars
  • DMR Vault Pedals (chrome)
  • Lezyne Danny MacAskill signature pump and multitool
2nd Place
Second place goes to Tamás Misik, whose energetic style and creative mix of street and more traditional trials was very popular with out judges:

Tamás also takes home a great selection of prizes, provided by Inspired Bicycles, Heatsink Bikes, DMR Bikes and Lezyne:
  • Inspired forks, Inspired Mug, Inspired t-shirt
  • Heatsink (8mm Yellow/8mm Blue/or 10mm Reds) plastic-backed Magura pads (winner's choice), chainstay protector, stickers
  • DMR Vault Pedals (Nickel)
  • Lezyne Danny MacAskill signature pump and multitool
3rd Place
Third place goes to Carl Hopps. The judges were all big fans of Carl's relaxed style and line choice and everyone loved the rail to rail bunnyhop line at the end of the video!

Carl's prizes come courtesy of Inspired Bicycles, Heatsink Bikes and Lezyne:
  • Inspired bars, Inspired Mug, Inspired t-shirt
  • Heatsink (8mm Yellow/8mm Blue/or 10mm Reds) plastic-backed Magura pads (winner's choice), chainstay protector, stickers
  • Lezyne Danny MacAskill signature pump and multitool
Biggest Move
Joachim Skjævestad's video was universally popular with our judges and only missed out on a spot in the top three by a few points. He was also a pretty universal choice for the prize for Biggest Move, although the judges all thought a different move in his video was worthy of the prize. So the prize for biggest move goes to Joachim, for pretty much every move in this video!

Joachim gets  an Inspired Kevlar Pivotal Saddle, Inspired Mug, Inspired Tshirt, Heatsink Tshirt and Chainstay Protector and a pair of Atomlab Ltd. Edition Chrome Pimp Bars.

Most Tech Line
Tamás Misik also takes the prize for Most Tech Line. Once again, although he received the most nominations for this prize from our judges, the line for which it was awarded varied for all of our judges - so many to choose from!

Tamás gets  an Inspired Kevlar Pivotal Saddle, Inspired Mug, Inspired Tshirt, Heatsink Tshirt and Chainstay Protector and a pair of DMR Vault Pedals in black.

Most Creative 'Pure' Trials Line
The prize for Most Creative 'Pure' Trials Line goes to Ricardo Meyer for the line at 01:48 in his video and he gets a Tribal Zine tshirt and a Heatsink Tshirt and Chainstay Protector.

Best Video from Someone Riding for Under a Year
Another pretty universal choice, the prize for Best Video from Someone Riding for Under a Year goes to Patryk Kucza, who gets an Inspired Mug and a Heatsink Tshirt and Chainstay Protector.

Spot Prizes
And finally, the spot prizes. These are prizes for those videos, lines, moves, shots or edits that our judges felt deserved some recognition outside the standard prize categories.

These go to the following people, for various reasons - cool moves in their videos, a nice overall feel or concept to their videos, a marked improvement over last year's entry, 'commitment to the cause', etc. In no particular order:

Mike Judson - Inspired Pivotal Kevlar Saddle
Thorsten Banze - Inspired Lock-On Grips
Ante Čobanov - Inspired four-bolt bashring
Cal McGregor - Heatsink Tshirt & chainstay protector
Frankie Exley-McTaggart - Phoenix Flight hoody (green) and stickers
Jubal Vander Werff - Phoenix ltd. edition flexfit cap (Grey) and stickers
Maxwell Duryea - Phoenix ltd. edition slouch beanie (burgundy) and stickers

The Novice Category was very popular this year, with 32 entries from 19 different countries and aged from 14 to 37 years old! The scores were very close, with just a few points separating the majority of videos. There was also a big spread in the quality of entries, with some riders obviously putting a lot of thought and effort into their videos, both in terms of the riding and the production. This is exactly what we were hoping for and we're really pleased with the number of really great videos that have come out of this year's competition! Hopefully this will continue and people will think more about how they ride and how they film and edit their videos and we can see a lot more really good trials videos in the future!

We've added all of the video entries to the competition's Vimeo and Youtube channels and there is a full list of all of the entries on the blog (here), so if you haven't seen them all, it should be pretty easy to get caught up.

Finally, one more massive thank you to all of our sponsors for their support and for the fantastic prizes that they've provided for both categories!

The results are in! The Sponsored Category winners are....

The judge's scores have all been received and we've spent the morning going through, totalling them up and working out who the winners are.

We'll start with the top three videos in the Sponsored Category and will follow that with the top three videos and spot prize winners in the Novice Category in another post.

We had some great videos in the Sponsored Category, with 15 entries from sponsored riders from all over the world. Our judges had their work cut out for them in scoring the videos and pretty much any of the entries could easily have taken the win. In the end though, the winners, as voted for by our panel of judges are:

1st Place
First place in the Sponsored Category goes to Sean Watson, who was very close to getting full marks from all of the judges for his video, making it two wins in a row for Sean!

Sean takes the prize for the Sponsored Category, very kindly provided by Five Ten:
  • 1x Five Ten Danny MacAskill signature shoes
  • 1x Five Ten Hoody
  • 1x Five Ten Tshirt
2nd Place
Second place goes to Vašek Kolář for his brilliant video:

3rd Place
Third place goes to Rob Harris, who finished in second place in last year's Novice Category:

Congratulations to Sean, Vašek and Rob and also to the rest of the entrants, who all put together some really great videos, with plenty of effort and creativity going into them - that's exactly what we wanted to happen, and if we could give prizes to everyone that entered, we would!

All of the videos...

Hi everyone,

Here are the final lists of entries to the competition, with links to all of the videos.

First up are the Novice entries. We had 31 entries this year, and the overall quality of the videos has been much higher, with more thought and effort going into the video production and riding, which is fantastic - just what we were hoping for!
